The deaths have left the victims’ families in Kerala in deep grief. Meanwhile, authorities are investigating how the fire started and what led to the tragedy.
Who Were The Three Indians Killed In Germany?
The three victims came from different parts of Kerala. Each had travelled to Germany with hopes of building a better future.
Nova Sabu Worked As A Gym Trainer
Nova Sabu, 25, came from Kattappana in Kerala’s Idukki district. Her father, KP Sabu, had retired as a police sub-inspector. Her mother, PN Jyothi, works as a public health nurse.
Nova travelled to Germany on July 3. She worked part-time as a gym trainer while pursuing her career abroad.
Anjali Sheela Joy Worked At A Warehouse
Anjali Sheela Joy, 25, came from Kollam district in Kerala. She held a Bachelor of Education degree and hoped to secure a government job.
After several attempts to find suitable work, she moved to Germany in July. She later started working at a warehouse.
Her family became worried when she missed her usual phone call. They later learnt about the fire through a friend in Dubai.
Sivin Johny Had Recently Moved To Germany
Sivin Johny, 26, came from Kalady in Ernakulam district. He had arrived in Germany only about two weeks before the fire.
He had travelled abroad to explore new career opportunities. His sudden death has left his family waiting for answers.
How Did The Fire Start In Bochum?
The fire broke out at around 4:15 am local time on Tuesday. It occurred in a multi-storey residential building on Poststrasse in Bochum’s Hofstede district.
Firefighters found the three victims inside an apartment on the second floor. Five other people also suffered injuries.
Investigators suspect that someone deliberately started the fire on the ground floor. They have ruled out a technical fault as the cause, according to reports.
The flames spread through a wooden staircase that served as the building’s main exit. Thick smoke filled the corridors and made it difficult for residents to escape.
Police are also examining reports of an argument among residents on the previous day. However, investigators have yet to confirm whether the dispute had any link to the fire.
Police Arrest Romanian Man In Suspected Arson Case
German police arrested a 41-year-old Romanian man who lived in the same building. Investigators suspect him of murder in connection with the fire.
Authorities are examining the evidence to establish how the fire started and whether the suspect played a role.
The case remains under investigation. Police have yet to establish all the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
